CodeSmith 3.0

I’ve tried the new beta of Codesmith and liked it quite a bit. Eric is doing a number of things very right as a Micro-ISV.

For starters his tool is easy to use and understand. His scripting of templates that are used to produce the automated output is the key here. Because it is not terribly complex, it allows a vibrant user community to grow around Codesmith. By having users contribute templates to the community the overall value of Codesmith increases exponentially. Thats exactly what you want in his line of business. Its fantastic to watch. I think his tools will be around for as long as the community participation exists. Great job Eric!

One small caveat though - be sure that the user and support forums for version 3 are accessible the same way as the previous versions. I know your probably concerned about your product look and feel but trust me its much more important to keep the community in one well known place than to have a seperate (albeit prettier) support structure for version 3.
