Alex Furman wrote a very nifty utility that can record web interactions in an IE 5.5 and higher browser. I could see some use for this in automated testing of web applications. The most interesting aspect of this tool is the way in which it GENERATES C# CODE based on recorded script interactions with a site. The C# code can be turned into a console application and run by any QA person via a mouse click , or by a scheduler of some kind.

Funny how the web works. A few clicks after initially posting this, I came across ecyware’s engine. The difference here is that the site appears unfinished and the folks running it already list their tool at $299.00 For what? For a beta? That is not a good business decision. Even if you don’t charge for the beta, your users will be confused - as I appear to be. :) So for the time being I like Alex’ work better. And here it is -

The gentleman in charge of ecyware sent me an email complaining that I had misquoted his site. It appears that the aforementioned engine is freeware and the pricing found on the site relates to another product. Unfortunately I had deleted the comment along with 50,000 others from spammers. Anyway, I appreciate the concern but I standby my words. As I said “….your users will be confused as I appear to be…”
