And now for something totally different
In a former life, about 23 years ago, I was a chef. With a degree in culinary arts and all. Its a long story. Anyways I wanted to mention this as a way of establishing credibility for my opinion. So here it is:
If you are currently living in a City or State that does not have a Trader Joe’s store you need to move.
OK, I’m kidding. But heck, if you do live in a place that has a Trader Joe, you should check it out. I get all my food there.
Tonights menu was a rustic meal of Cioppino accompanied by a fresh sour dough baguette. Almost like being in San Francisco. The meal was done in less than 15 minutes and cost less than $10.00 for 2 people. Gotta love it. If you want to recreate it, go to Trader Joe’s and pick up some Cioppino Simmering Sauce, a 1Ib bag of frozen mixed seafood and a baguette. Set your oven for 350 degrees and throw the baguette in there. Empty the simmering sauce into a pot on the stove and add the frozen seafood mix. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for about 5 minutes while frequently stirring. Spoon your soup into some nice bowls and break off a couple huge chunks of hot baguette - voila your ready. It’s da bomb! Da schizznit… da…. oh well you get the idea.
Since I’m talking about non-business related things…. here is another story. Keep it in your back pocket for those times when you or a person close to you are leaid off or fired. (Warning the following contains vaguely religious content !)
Our family has been attending a church in Hollywood for about 8 years. A month ago our pastor was called to the office of the Presbytery and told to tender his resignation within 24 hours. Mind you, there is no foul play involved here. Its simply a matter of some members of the congregation being ticked off with the guy. A Presbytery is an administrative office of the Presbyterian denomination. Usually such an office handles various apsects of the denomination as they exceed a single church within a specific geographic area.
So if you are ever in a position where you are being laid off or fired, remember it happens to the best of us. Even to those people in our society who are professional do-gooders. Amazing ain’t it?
