Who has the time these days

Call it Mike-envy or whatever, but since Mike announced that he was leaving all things Microsoft behind, I have been itching to use a non MS OS again. So off I went to install SUSE 10.2 And for half a day I was fine until I noticed that the display had a really hard time scrolling. Some investigation turned up that SUSE didnt recognize my Geforce whatever AGP graphics card. Aside from that I also played around with installing Rails and MySQL (again). And while SUSE 10.2 is seemingly very nice, I just don’t have the time to mess with all this. Maybe Mike had the right idea – get an Apple. Some of these issues are not issues with Apple and you can say what you want I still think there is something different about a commercial OS versus an open source one. In any case, I can whip up a Rails install in windows in a lot less time. So the bottom line is that my free time after work is too precious to mess around with an OS that doesn’t want to play with a fairly standard graphics card. Maybe I’ll try Ubuntu next but I bet that it will be similar problems. Thats why I stopped working with Linux before. It just takes up too much time to get the same results that can be had elsewhere much faster.
