Microsoft tells MVPs “we’re in it to win” Really?

I used to hate Scobles posts. All this Rah Rah Rah for Microsoft. Then he left. And ever since I’ve enjoyed him a little more

So here he is taking Ballmer and company to task on the issue of Leadership. He makes some very interesting points about Google in the process.

Lion kingIt reminds me of something my buddy Dan used to say. Years ago he switched from C++ to Java. We talked about MS and software leadership. Mind you this was about 5 years ago at least. Dan, who is about the biggest car-nut I ever saw, likened the prospects of MS to those of GM and by extension the US car industry. He said : “ The reason MS will suffer a decline is because when it stops innovation and just expends energy in sustaining its own self-imposed bureaucracy other companies will step up and lead. Those companies will find opportunities and openings in the market that may eventually overtake MS. “

Similar to the history of GM and Toyota. In a way its almost a Circle of Life kinda thing.

Scobles post.
