Jumping through hoops for a PDF
Recently I needed to convert an MS Word Document to a PDF file. Faced with that task I had three choices
- Print the doc, go to my local Kinkos and scan it into PDF (don’t laugh, I’ve done that)
- Search the Internet for the possible existence of a PDF print driver for MS Word 2007
- Use OpenOffice on Suse
I went with OpenOffice. Since I have a Linux box here to mess around with RoR and MonoDevelop, I simply emailed the doc to myself. Downloaded it into OpenOffice and printed it to PDF. The resulting file looked very nice indeed. Makes you wonder why there is no PDF driver built into MS Word. Or maybe I missed something.
If anyone knows of a no-cost, nice and easy way to print to PDF in Word 2007 / Vista , please let me know.
